My daughter and I watched one of our favorite movies today...Moulin Rouge. I LOVE this movie. It has everything that I love....bright colors and costumes, sparkly jewelry and crowns, romance, beautiful girl and handsome guy (even though I don't think he's that cute...maybe if it was Ralph Fiennes...it would be total perfection! And, of course the tragic death at the end.

Remarkable Women
Hi there,
I participated in a swap on Art-e-zine and the theme was Remarkable Women. This was really hard for me to pick because I always want to do Audrey Hepburn, but I made myself do someone different. The person I chose was Florence Nightingale because she cared deeply enough for her fellow man to take so many chances in the war and with extremely contagious diseases. Not only that, I learned also that she created the pie chart!! How cool is that?!

Mandalas
I was visiting Anahata's website earlier and she mentioned this artist that she likes and I think is having a workshop over on the West Coast....wish I could go. So, I went to his website and WOW...is this guy awesome! His work is so COLORFUL and spiritual and beautiful! As I'm sure you know, I LOVE lots of color...so check it out my friends: http://mandalas.com/index.php
I can't wait until I have more time to peruse his website more closely and learn more about mandalas, Tibet, etc. I read Goldie Hawn's biography last year and she is a Buddhist and mentions how spiritual and freeing the 'religion' is in her book. (That is an excellent bio too by the way...she is really an incredibly strong woman.) This is my favorite mandala that I could see quickly (my computer is too slow to load all of them and I'm too impatient :-) I can't wait to find out what it means....gotta go!

Joyride
So... on the news this morning, they reported that soon the US might put in bike routes similar to those over in Europe (I think they said France), where you can just jump on a bike, ride it to where you need to go, then jump off and park it for the next person! Is that for real?!?!! That would be sooo awesome!
Here in my town close to Dallas, Texas, there is one (I repeat...ONE!) lady who rides a bike consistently around town doing her errands here and there. Everyone calls her the "crazy lady". Now...is that sad or what?! I would like to put a basket on the front of my bike and ride it everywhere I need to go but my kids have strictly forbid me to even THINK about it because heaven forbid, someone might see me! Hah....
Little do they know that hopefully soon...that will be the norm. I HAVE noticed more people riding their bikes and walking but still more for "fitness". I suppose that could be a good excuse to ride the bike down to wally-world to get milk...I could just carry a backpack instead of a pretty basket.
So, if any of you from other countries have any advice or comments, I would love to hear them and share them with my spoiled rotten children!

beautiful
Love this painting found in "Art Teacher's Art" pool on Flickr. The pretty girl in the dress looks so cool existing among the abstract painting. Hmmm...I think this painting reflects how I feel about myself in the world. Interesting how when you look at something long enough it makes totally perfect sense!!

End of the Rainbow
Guess what's at the end of my rainbow?!! Beautiful, shiny, sparkly rhinestone vintage costume jewelry! Oohhh...I just LOVE it! This is my loot from e-bay and tag sales last week...yes - I do feel like a pirate!! (I know the pictures suck...I'm not very good with a camera.) Now I just need to make myself let go of these beauties and put them in my art.
